Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Nation through All India Radio Broadcast on Thursday. He described the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution as a historic decision which fulfilled the dreams of BR Ambedkar, Sardar Patel and other patriots. 'This marks the beginning of a new era in Kashmir,' he declared assuring free and fair elections soon, huge employment opportunities, tourism development and peace in Jammu & Kashmi.
Modi: 'Kashmiris were deprived of development due to Special Status. Article 370 has denied equal rights to Women in Kashmir. Not even reservation for SC / STs in Jammu & Kashmir. But now, Kashmiris can avail benefits just any rest of the nation. Government Employees in J&K will receive the same benefits as that of Govt Employees in other UTs'.
Prime Minister assured Assembly Elections in Jammu & Kashmir will be held soon. He told Kashmiris that they could continue to elect the Chief Minister of their choice. He maintained good relations between Kashmiris and Center will end the terrorism and separatism in the region.
NaMo reiterated Union Territory status for Kashmir will not be permanent. He told development was happening in J&K ever since Governor Rule was enforced. The PM, however, admits there was no unanimous acceptance for the decision to revoke Article 370. He exuded confidence that the people of Kashmir will offer a befitting reply to those who are trying to disrupt the peace.
